Duties
Maintain 24/7 operational readiness of data center equipment, monitor mission-critical systems, and operate print equipment.
Monitor system consoles and hardware diagnostic displays for mainframe and open systems to ensure efficient operations and proper execution of transactions, programs, and data transfers.
Act as Help Desk consultant for remote systems during off-shift hours and assist with procedural matters and problems involving programmers/analysts.
Move or lift equipment and supplies as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
No exam required under the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide (NY HELPS) Program.
For appointment to a Computer Operator Trainee, a high school diploma or high school equivalency diploma is required.
For appointment to a Computer Operator, a high school or high school equivalency diploma and six months full-time experience in large scale/commercial printing equipment, mainframe, medium to large server, multi-variable print production, or IT-related activities is required.
Competitive Minimum Qualifications
You must be currently reachable on the appropriate eligible list for this title, eligible under the 55 b/c program, or eligible to transfer to this title under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
Transfer
To transfer to a Computer Operator, salary grade (SG)-10, you must have one year of permanent competitive service, or 55-b/55-c service in an approved title allocated to an SG-8 or above.

- Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office and Teams.
