About the role
The Future Plant Instrumentation and Control (FPIC) Unit in Future Development Programs is a cross-site team responsible for driving technology and developing electrical designs for the VIRGINIA Class based Improved Performance Machinery Program Phase IV (IPMP) and SSN(X). This position will provide an opportunity for the successful candidate to contribute significantly to the technical approach and delivery strategy for the integration of electrical power systems for the future plant submarine. The successful candidate will integrate the electrical power systems by using his/her technical knowledge of design, testing, and operation of shipboard systems as well as the application of NR Program principles and established design methods.
Responsibilities
- Deliver on technical work
- Team with multiple stakeholders (both internal and external to NNL)
- Work planning for cognizant efforts
- Occasional work travel between sites, to EB, and to Newport News for working meetings
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience; or
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience; or
- Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience; or
- Currently a Senior Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with I&C system design
- Experience with submarine power system design
- Experience with power electronics/PCMs
- Demonstrated ability to communicate with Naval Reactors verbally or in written format
- Demonstrated ability to work with stakeholders across multiple organizations and locations

Pay
$94,800.00 – $148,200.00 annually (salary information provided is a general guideline only; annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations).
