Job Description

The Future Plant Instrumentation and Control (FPIC) Unit in Future Development Programs is a cross-site team responsible for driving technology and developing electrical designs for the VIRGINIA Class based Improved Performance Machinery Program Phase IV (IPMP) and SSN(X). This position will provide an opportunity for the successful candidate to contribute significantly to the technical approach and delivery strategy for the integration of electrical power systems for the future plant submarine.

Specific responsibilities for this position are delivering on technical work, teaming with multiple stakeholders (both internal and external to NNL), and work planning for cognizant efforts. Occasional work travel between sites, to EB, and to Newport News for working meetings is required.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience;
  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience;
  • Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience;
  • Currently a Senior Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with I&C system design;
  • Experience with submarine power system design;
  • Experience with power electronics/PCMs;
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with Naval Reactors verbally or in written format;
  • Demonstrated ability to work with stakeholders across multiple organizations and locations.

Pay Range

$94,800.00 - $148,200.00 annually
Salary information provided is a general guideline only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Qualifications

All candidates must be U.S. citizens. Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. FMP is a government contractor and maintains a drug free workplace and workforce. All candidates must be able to pass a drug test in compliance with FMP company policy and 10 CFR 707. Marijuana is a Federal Schedule I controlled substance and illegal under Federal Law. Therefore, FMP is required to test for marijuana.
