Requirements

  • Education: Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology or completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Licensure/Certification: Current ARRT certification in Radiography (R); Current ARRT Computed Tomography (CT) certification or advanced CT certification as required; Current state Radiologic Technologist license where applicable.
  • Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Venipuncture Certification Preferred. Fluoroscopy certification preferred or required by facility or state regulations.
  • Experience: Previous Computed Tomography (CT) experience preferred; Experience in hospital, outpatient, emergency, trauma, or acute care settings preferred; Experience with PACS, RIS, and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred.

Essential Functions

  • Perform computed tomography (CT) examinations according to physician orders and established imaging protocols.
  • Position patients appropriately and explain imaging procedures to ensure patient comfort and cooperation.
  • Operate CT imaging equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
  • Administer contrast media when required in accordance with facility policies and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
  • Evaluate image quality and ensure all required imaging is completed prior to submission for interpretation.
  • Transfer and verify images through PACS and other imaging systems for radiologist review.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR), RIS, and PACS systems.
  • Monitor patient condition during imaging procedures and respond appropriately to changes in patient status.
  • Follow radiation safety principles, ALARA guidelines, infection prevention standards, HIPAA regulations, and departmental policies.
  • Perform routine quality assurance, equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and report equipment issues as needed.
  • Maintain adequate imaging supplies and ensure examination rooms are clean, organized, and prepared for patient care.
  • Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
  • Assist with general radiography, portable imaging, fluoroscopy, or other imaging procedures as required by the facility and within the scope of practice.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities, continuing education, competency assessments, and staff training as assigned.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
