Compute Engineering Lead

Location: New York or Chicago

About the role

Our client, a global, multi-strategy asset management firm, is building a world-class on-premises compute platform for its investment professionals and is looking for an engineering manager to own the compute infrastructure pieces of this. This senior, hands-on leader will own compute architecture, implementation, and governance. This role offers the opportunity to work directly with Portfolio Managers and other business stakeholders to understand their needs and enable them to efficiently use on-premises compute resources.

Responsibilities

• Scale and harden compute infrastructure to provide a robust and resilient environment for researchers and investment professionals.
• Leverage both open and closed source software solutions.
• Partner with application developers across the firm and enable their success.
• Participate in on-call rotation and maintenance.

Requirements

• 10+ years, hands-on experience with large-scale compute environments.
• Experience with software low latency environments.
• 5+ years people management experience.
• Expert knowledge of Kubernetes from the infrastructure and application points of view.
• Experience managing bare metal compute at scale.
• IP network performance tuning and routing experience.
• Comfortable writing Python.
• Experience with disaster recovery and business continuity planning.

Pay

For NY, CA, and IL based applicants, the starting base pay range for this role is between $200,000 to $300,000. This role may also be eligible for bonus compensation.
