About the role
The Engineer III focused on Computational Analysis is responsible for performing advanced structural design and analysis work for various steel and concrete structures. The work includes the proficient application of finite element analysis tools for plate structures subjected to various structural, dynamic and thermal loading. The role will focus on individual analysis and design tasks as part of a collaborative team for large and complex projects. May act as a discipline lead for projects, managing internal and external resources as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Develops computer models from design drawings.
- Develops broad knowledge and skills in computational analysis.
- Applies engineering first principles of statics, mechanics of materials, and dynamics to find engineering solutions for various types of steel and concrete structures.
- Supports design engineering efforts for various atmospheric, refrigerated and cryogenic storage structures to API and ASME codes/standards.
- Evaluates, selects and applies standard techniques, procedures and criteria to perform a task or sequence of tasks for conventional projects with few complex features.
- Collaboratively uses judgment to determine adaptations in methods for non-routine aspects of assignments.
- Assists in developing analysis reports, when required, which effectively communicate the analysis methods and results to internal and external clients.
- Works on small projects or on portions of large projects.
- Performs design calculations and analysis using appropriate systems and tools.
- Checks work for constructability, interferences, operational safety, and overall quality assurance.
- Coordinates tasks and work with entry level engineers, designers, or administrative staff.
- Assists in preparing and managing scope, budget and schedule for projects or assignments to include any discipline internal or external resources assigned to support their projects are within scope, budget and schedule.
- Prepares portions of project documents.
- Edits specifications.
- Performs research and investigations.
- Assists with project manager, project Engineer, client, customer contacts, vendor and communication pertaining to specific assignments or meetings.
