Compounder I

Position Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to be responsible for the dispensing of chemicals and compounding of bulk product according to department SOPs and batch record requirements. The role also involves ensuring a safe workplace while producing a quality product.

Essential Functions

• Basic weighing or measuring of materials, or products.
• Understand the continuous improvement process.
• Must be able to train and cross-train less experienced compounders and cleaning technicians.
• Able to follow instructions precisely on the batch record.
• Observe equipment operations so that abnormalities can be detected and escalated timely and appropriately.
• Operation of simple equipment.
• Collect product samples and prepare them for laboratory analysis and testing.
• Cleaning of compounding equipment (tanks/pumps/utensils).
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Cleaning of mechanical parts of machines and other small parts, to include transfer lines, mixing tanks and other equipment as needed.
• Cleaning of portable equipment, such as pumps, fillers, storage containers, stationary storage tanks and return cleaned parts to designated storage areas.
• Management of waste water and proper disposal.
• Completion of the lock out tag out program.
• Able to read and determine batch requirements.
• Follow all EPC Safety/Environmental, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and Lean 5S policies and regulation guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience

• High school diploma or GED required from an accredited institution.
• One (1) year of experience in a manufacturing facility.
• Light mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
• Basic math and computer skills required.
• Must be qualified to wear a respirator.
• Flexibility to work weekends and overtime.
• Must be able to read, write and understand English.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and be detail-oriented.
• Ability and willingness to work closely with others and departments.
• Ability to document and communicate properly.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds without assistance.

Working Relationships

• Edgewell teammates, contractors and regulatory agencies.

Work Environment

• Ability to work 8+ hour shift standing, bending, and reaching.
• Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment (may be above 30 ambient degrees or below 20 ambient degrees in areas of production).
• Maintaining a safe and clean work environment, which would include sweeping and cleaning up as you go.
• Flexibility to work weekends and overtime.
• Fast-paced, high-speed manufacturing environment.

Environmental, Health & Safety Responsibilities

• Exposure to health risks or conditions that may require the use of Personal Protective Equipment.
• Be aware of and follow the Environmental Policy and EH&S work instructions/procedures that apply to the job.
• Perform every job safely, for the benefit of self, co-workers, contractors, and for the protection of facilities. This includes the use of required personal protective equipment and use of safety equipment as well as safe work practices.
• Immediately report every job-related injury or illness, regardless of severity, to a supervisor.
• Assist in investigating incidents.
• Take necessary actions to correct or stop any unsafe conditions or practices.
• Actively participate in safety meetings and training.
• Review Material Data Sheet instructions before working with any chemical product.

Quality Assurance Responsibilities

• Teammates are responsible for their own quality and that of teammates within their span of control.
• Teammates are responsible for following all established Quality procedures and instructions.
• Notify supervision for corrective action if defects are found and/or parts/processes do not conform to specifications.
