Compost Attendant I

About the role

This is an entry-level position in the Compost department at Kreher's Wolcott location. You'll be responsible for operating and cleaning composting equipment, assisting in the processing of manure into compost, and performing basic preventative maintenance on machinery.

Responsibilities

• Operate and clean composting equipment
• Assist in safely and efficiently processing manure into compost
• Assist with keeping equipment in top condition through cleaning and basic preventative maintenance
• Learn how to fix compost machinery under direct supervision
• Learn the operation of a skid steer and payloader under direct supervision

Requirements

• A high school diploma or GED
• Valid driver's license required
• Strong aptitude for operating equipment (Payloader, Skid steer, dump truck)
• Excellent organizational skills
• A high degree of initiative
• Able to work independently when proficient with job duties
• Class A Driver's license preferred

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Mobile in nature requiring moderate to high energy levels and occasional physical exertion
• Exposure to environmental conditions such as heat, cold, temperature changes, agricultural noise, dust, odors, and hazards
• Constant physical demands of the position include standing, walking, carrying, pushing, pulling, and lifting
• Constant physical demands also include talking and hearing
• Lift or move up to 50 pounds
