About the role

The Department of Biomedical, Industrial and Systems Engineering is seeking a highly qualified graduate assistant (GA) to participate in a real-world project focused on a novel composite material for vibration isolation in aerospace applications. Responsibilities will center on designing a vibration isolator, including material selection and implementation on the department’s 6-DOF platform (located in CAE L01). The candidate should have a relevant background in programming and control systems and will present research outcomes at conferences.

Responsibilities

• Conduct literature reviews
• Collect and analyze data
• Design and execute project experiments
• Write and prepare research papers
• Present findings at Celebrate Gannon in Spring 2027

Requirements

• Full-time enrollment in the BISE MS program
• Undergraduate degree in an appropriate science or engineering discipline
• Ability to support and promote the University’s Mission

Preferred Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in an appropriate science or engineering discipline from an accredited institution

Physical Demands

• Ability to safely lift 25 pounds
• Capability to sit and/or stand for extended periods
• Comfort working in a busy environment

Schedule

8:00 AM–4:30 PM, Monday through Friday (up to 10 hours per week, part-time, 9-month position)
