Composites Technician II

Primary Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot issues with extrusion processes across the Bayport site
• Manage, clean and care for extrusion tooling and ancillary equipment
• Train and support operations team involved with extrusion processes
• Assist with cross-functional work on continuous improvement and safety projects
• Take corrective action on safety incidents, machine downtime, or quality incidents that deviate from customer requirements, with support from engineering team
• Assist with Engineering / Operations projects as needed
• Proactively identify potential downtime, scrap or reliability issues and communicate them up to an appropriate level
• Continuously drive standardization of processes and methods

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma
• Strong prioritization and multi-tasking capability
• Strong aptitude for problem-solving and process improvement
• Self-motivated with strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
• Ability to work in a team environment and individually
• Demonstrates a strong interest and aptitude for work in a technical field
• Experience with PC and software applications

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with extrusion processes, plastics manufacturing, or composite materials
• Knowledge of dimensional measurement techniques and quality assurance practices
• Experience using precision measurement equipment (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.)
• Familiarity with root cause analysis and structured problem-solving methods
• Basic Machining (manual mill, lathe, surface grinder)
• Basic Welding (TIG/MIG and laser)
• Familiarity with interpreting technical drawings and specifications
