About the role

R&P Technologies is seeking an experienced Composite Technician to join our team. The position involves installing, repairing, and troubleshooting composite lamination and lay-up on US Navy ships in Pascagoula, MS. We support multiple ship classes and types across various Navy installations along the United States coast.

Responsibilities

  • Execute composite/installation trade repairs and modifications to shipboard composite structures
  • Ensure work complies with applicable installation procedures and practices
  • Complete and retain all required documentation in the project QA book
  • Report daily progress updates to supervisor or lead
  • Adhere to all safety precautions associated with composite material handling and use
  • Comply with all local, state, and federal regulations when handling, transporting, and disposing of composite material and hazardous waste
  • Maintain quality standards associated with composite repair and installation as per Composite Workbooks and Composite Owner's Manual
  • Read, interpret, and follow customer work item requirements and drawings

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2-3 years relevant experience working in ship repair onboard US Navy ships (technical education may substitute for a portion of the experience requirement)
  • Familiarity with NAVY Standard Items
  • Knowledge of reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, technical manuals, design notices, etc.
  • Basic computer skills, including MS-Office programs like Word and Excel
  • Composite Owner's Manual and Composite Work Item Workbook familiarity and proficiency
  • US citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance (current active Secret clearance is a plus)
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written)
  • Physical condition to lift 50 pounds on your own
  • Willingness to travel to various locations for ship maintenance availability
  • Flexible with scheduling and support due to Navy movement
  • Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and guidelines
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Navy DBIDS security credentials

Qualifications

Must be a Composite Technician with the following qualifications:

  • First and foremost, responsible individual with great attention to safety precautions
  • Undergo composite certification and qualification training

Skills

  • Reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, technical manuals, design notices, etc.
  • Basic computer skills, including MS-Office programs like Word and Excel
  • Understanding of safety procedures and guidelines
