JOB SUMMARY

Performs duties to lay-up a variety of composite parts.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works from work orders, specifications, blueprints, oral and written instructions to lay-up composites such as fiberglass, core material and prepreg.
  • Lays-up according to ply orientation of warp, weft, ribbon and fiber direction, with lap and butt joint standards, in a controlled atmosphere and contaminate free environment.
  • May work under the guidance of other layup techs.
  • Obtains specified materials and tools needed.
  • Cuts plys with the use of templates and tools.
  • Uses hand pressure and small tools to form and stretch lay-up, while avoiding wrinkles, bridging, air bubbles, gaps, contaminations, etc.
  • Able to apply basic bagging operations for completions of standard operations in lay-up process.
  • Identifies parts for next operation.
  • Uses tools such as scissors, knives, pushing tools, markers, hammers, and other small tools.
  • Maintains a clean working environment.
  • Responsible for own work.
  • Performs other related duties.

EDUCATION

  • Must have a high school diploma, an equivalent certificate, or bronze level WorkKeys certification.
  • Textron Aviation Blueprint certification preferred.

EXPERIENCE

  • 2+ years of composite lay-up experience or related composite experience.

Safety and Working Conditions

  • Working conditions may involve dirt, dust and grease.
  • Could be exposed to fumes and sharp objects and loud noise.
  • Exposure to heat.
  • Safety shoes could be required.
