Composite & Bonding Specialist Manager
About the role
Airbus Aerosystems Kinston is seeking a Composite & Bonding Specialist Manager to lead a team in developing solutions to complex problems, fabricating and assembling complex aerostructures, and interfacing with engineering, management, suppliers, and customers to meet product requirements and customer acceptance.
Responsibilities
- Lead team in developing solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
- Lead a team of represented employees in the fabrication and assembly of complex aerostructures, to meet production requirements and customer acceptance.
- Ensures the manufacture of completed units by overseeing activities such as assembly of components into subassemblies; mating or joining of structural assemblies (metallic and nonmetallic); installation of systems (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic) that are fastened with screws, bolts, rivets, solder, crimping or swaging, connectors, or adhesives; and testing with mechanical, electrical, and electronic test equipment.
- Interfaces with engineering, management, suppliers, and customers to meet product requirements and customer acceptance.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience working with multiple cross-functional groups (Quality, Assembly, Procurement, Supply Chain, Machining, etc.)
- At least 5 years experience in a leadership/management role
- Proven leadership experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Ability to articulate complex issues to others
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters is essential
- Demonstrated effectiveness in interpersonal skills
- 5% domestic/international travel
Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship is required
- Associate or Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Experience developing and managing a statement of work on time and within budget
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience using SAP
- Ability to work any shift, including alternative work weeks
- Experience working in a union environment with collective bargaining agreements
- Experience monitoring cost
- Experience managing projects
- Experience with strategic planning
- Experience working with new product introduction (NPI)

- Speaking: Daily able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.
- Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): Able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts.
- Carrying: Weekly able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
- Lifting: Weekly able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
- Pushing / Pulling: Weekly able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.
- Sitting: Daily able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer.
- Squatting / Kneeling: Weekly able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.
- Standing: Daily able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.
- Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): Daily able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.
- Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site.
