Component Technician

Position Overview

Job Description (Key Responsibilities)

• Provides gauge setting function for the plant by reviewing prints for limitations and specifications, selecting and distributing standards, setting up gauges as required, and verifying or making new standards as needed.
• Cleans gauges and notifies chief gauge setter of need for major repairs.
• Performs component dimension, roundness, and profile tracings of components and interprets results.
• Interacts efficiently with co-workers, suppliers, supervisors, staff department heads, and personnel in other plants in the bearing division.
• Maintains I, M & TE records for verification and performs calibration of all I, M & TE equipment.
• Develops and writes procedures as needed and updates calibration manual as necessary.
• Uses computer software such as Microsoft Office, Oracle, Engage Software, SharePoint, etc.
• Inspects all pieces of a scheduled lot for dimensional or visual characteristics, checks for defective components, returns merchandise, sizes parts for the assembly department, and performs inspection and gauging of components and assemblies as directed.
• Performs other related inspection functions such as etching, removing natal etching, audit inspections, etc.
• Operates magnaflux unit and natal etch system. Maintains and tests the magnaflux and natal etch systems as required.
• Sets up and operates optical comparators and hardness testers.
• Maintains cleanliness and moves containers of parts within the inspection area and to the next operation by lifting baskets, using a hoist, or using a hand cart.
• Fills out required paperwork including inspection reports, rework tickets, and scrap tickets, sizing tickets and production cards, providing accurate record keeping.
• Prepares and packs components for shipment, completes all relevant paperwork, and distributes copies as required.
• Performs receiving inspection function utilizing various software and gauging.
• Performs induction HT inspection function.
