Component Technician

About the Role

If you're passionate about quality, precision, and making a tangible difference, this role involves expertly preparing blood components from multiple blood collection bags, labeling, reviewing records, and following precise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure top-notch quality. Your attention to detail will help maintain the highest standards of product integrity while adhering to NYBC's rigorous guidelines, regulatory standards, and current good manufacturing practices (cGMP). The component technician’s role is vital in ensuring the highest quality of products are delivered to patients in need.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and process blood components from multiple collection bags, following all SOPs and regulatory guidelines.
• Accurately prepare and maintain documents and electronic information related to receiving, processing, and labeling blood products.
• Maintain equipment to ensure a safe and organized work environment.
• Oversee the storage of various blood products, ensuring proper conditions in a temperature-controlled environment.
• Label blood products acceptable for transfusion by following SOPs and using the Blood Establishment Computer System (BECS).
• Handle the shipping and packaging of products for research and discard, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED (some college science courses preferred).
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Computer skills preferred.
