About the role
Amentum is a trusted partner to United States government agencies, allied governments, and corporations worldwide, supporting critical programs across a broad range of domains. We are seeking a Component Engineer to support Strategic Microelectronics at Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane.
Responsibilities
- Provide component engineering support to the technologist team, to include writing technical reports
- Advises military programs and designers on part selection
- Troubleshoots component technical issues and recommends solutions
- Understands electrical test methods and techniques, radiations effects, failure analysis tools and techniques, material analysis tools and techniques
- Interfaces with program offices, prime contractors, designers, parts manufacturers, test labs, and other government agencies
- Develops and reviews test plan documentation
- Provides complete life-cycle support of strategic systems
- Participates in Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Audits, participates in Joint Electronic Devices Engineering Council (JEDEC) meetings, and performs reviews and makes recommendations on Military Performance Specifications and Test Methods
- Travels 25-50% of the time
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field preferably in Electrical Engineering and at least 5 years of relevant experience, or equivalent Component Engineering experience with a focus on quality and reliability standards and methods of IEEE parts
- Knowledgeable or willing to learn best design practices for IEEE parts
- Basic understanding of military industry standards (MIL-STD)
- Ability to analyze the differences between military, industry, commercial, and automotive standards
- Understanding of Microsoft Excel with the ability to learn more complex functions
- Understanding of basic electrical testing of IEEE parts
- Passes and maintains a Security Clearance (U.S. citizenship required)
Qualifications
- Component Engineer with a focus on quality and reliability standards and methods of IEEE parts
- Experience with discrete, passive, digital, or analog devices
- Knowledgeable on best design practices for IEEE parts with a focus on IC’s including manufacturing processes
- Understanding of the differences between military, industry, commercial, and automotive standards
- Strong understanding of Microsoft Excel: Formula integration, Macros, etc.
- Strong understanding of electrical testing of IEEE parts with the ability to perform basic electrical benchtop testing

$120,000 - $190,000 annually
