Compliance Specialist, Investment Operations

Our systems connect to the technology a firm already uses, carry routine work forward, assemble context and surface exceptions so people can apply their judgment where it matters. Because we operate what we build alongside client teams, live work continually sharpens the system and expands what it can carry. We are building a small, high-agency team around this model. The work crosses traditional boundaries: understanding the operation, designing the system, deploying it and staying accountable for how it performs in practice. About The Role You bring Canadian securities and investment-operations judgment into the way Decimal designs and operates systems. You work with client compliance professionals, operators, designers and engineers to translate regulatory requirements, firm procedures and repeated decisions into clear rules, evidence and paths for escalation. The client remains responsible for its regulated activity and professional judgment. Your role is to help the system carry everything that can be made reliable, while making the points that require firm judgment explicit and well supported. What You'll Do Translate the work. Turn regulatory requirements and firm procedures into concrete workflow rules, responsibilities and evidence requirements.Review the system. Examine workflows across onboarding, transactions, ongoing compliance and records for gaps, weak evidence and unclear ownership.Define judgment points. Separate deterministic steps from firm configuration and matters that require review by compliance or counsel.Resolve live cases. Work with client teams when new exceptions appear, then capture the durable answer in the system and its operating guidance.Support diligence. Help explain Decimal’s controls, responsibilities and boundaries accurately during client review. What You Need Direct experience in Canadian securities compliance, dealer or adviser operations, fund compliance or closely related investment-operations work.The ability to explain requirements in language that engineers, designers and operators can use.Comfort distinguishing regulatory and legal judgment from operational process design.Curiosity about how software and AI can carry more of the work without obscuring accountability.The judgment to say when a question belongs with the client’s CCO, counsel or another responsible professional.
