About the role

The Compliance Specialist I supports a culture of sustained procedural adherence and operational integrity across the organization. This role ensures enterprise-wide compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements through monitoring, risk-based reviews, and control assessments.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Reviews Park mortgage and consumer loan products, including new consumer and special accounts, to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Makes sure consumer loan transactions, modifications, and advances are properly documented according to credit union standards.
  • Performs additional reviews in other operational areas as needed to support overall compliance and operational integrity.
  • Maintains file maintenance reports, reviewing each record to ensure proper modifications and paperwork are complete.
  • Uses judgment to differentiate critical vs. non-critical errors and takes appropriate action to record and communicate these errors to staff.
  • Keeps managers informed of critical matters requiring immediate attention.
  • Provides reports and feedback to management regarding review and audit findings.
  • Pairs with frontline staff, lending staff, and managers to discuss observations and recommendations.
  • Suggests process improvements and participates in committees or special projects as assigned to support compliance, accuracy, and operational effectiveness.
  • Stays updated on state and federal rules and regulations governing credit union operations to ensure compliance is maintained.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

  • Keeps management informed of any key operation issues affecting the department.
  • Ensures individual and Credit Union adherence to policies.
  • Fulfills the credit union's Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money laundering policies and procedures, including running OFAC searches, completing investigative reports of suspicious activity, and currency transaction reports timely and without error.
  • Maintains a professional work environment, promotes teamwork, builds respect among coworkers, and presents a businesslike appearance.
  • Follows all security policies and procedures and reports discrepancies or suspicious activity to manager immediately.

Knowledge And Skills

  • Experience: Three years to five years of similar or related experience.
  • Education: A two-year college degree, specialized certification or licensing, completion of specialized training courses, or an apprenticeship program.

Interpersonal Skills

  • Work involves contact with persons beyond immediate associates regarding routine matters for the purpose of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion.
  • Outside contacts take the form of service to the public (members or vendors), requiring ordinary courtesy in providing assistance and information.

Other Skills

  • Good organization skills with attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Self-motivated.
  • Excellent time management skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly sits, stands, and walks short distances.
  • Frequently uses hands and fingers to count currency and handle, manipulate, and feel objects, documents, and office tools and equipment.
  • Reads, writes, listens, speaks, and uses personal computers, copiers, telephones, and other office equipment and software throughout the work day.
  • Occasionally stoops, bends, squats, and reaches overhead with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally pushes and pulls of office furniture and other objects.
  • Lifts and/or moves up to 15 pounds and on occasion lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds.

Pay Range

$26.38 - $27.20 per hour
