Mountain View Hospital is seeking a Compliance Specialist to ensure our infusion pharmacy, office, and nursing operations adhere to relevant laws and regulations. This role involves monitoring, inspecting, and proposing process improvements to meet accreditation standards, conducting audits of medical records, and preparing reports of findings.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Assistant Director of Outpatient Pharmacy Services, Office Supervisor, and Clinical Nurse Supervisor by auditing medication records and performing tasks to ensure pharmacy services and procedures comply with federal, state, and local laws related to patient health and safety, as well as accreditation requirements.
  • Ensures adherence to procedures, detects and prevents errors, and addresses quality problems.
  • Investigates issues and takes corrective action as needed.
  • Coordinates Performance Improvement plan activities, such as infection control and patient satisfaction improvements.
  • Reviews and updates pharmacy policies to align with accreditation standards.
  • Performs other pharmacy-related tasks as required.
  • Prepares quarterly and annual reports with audit results and statistics.
  • Applies common sense and understanding to instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Handles problems involving multiple variables in diverse situations.
  • Completes required certification and/or licensing requirements.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA.
  • Reports to work on time and as scheduled, completing tasks within designated timeframes.
  • Completes annual and as-needed HealthStream courses, competency skills checklists, and sets professional goals.
  • Collaborates with colleagues and supervisors to provide optimal customer service.
  • Represents the organization positively and professionally.
  • Adheres to all organizational policies and ethical business practices.
  • Communicates the mission, ethics, and goals of the hospital and pharmacy.
  • Demonstrates quality, independence, and effectiveness in work ethics.
  • May work a unique schedule as needed.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Graduate of a certified training program, healthcare careers college, or equivalent training.
  • Maintains current BLS certification.
  • Five years of experience in the healthcare field and/or equivalent education.
  • Auditing background preferred.
  • Computer knowledge, including familiarity with automated pharmacy systems.
  • Excel knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English; additional languages preferred.
  • Ability to perform basic math to calculate medication dosages.
  • Strong communication and networking skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, meet competing deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Self-motivated and proactive.
