About the role

Giving Home Health Care supports individuals impacted by health conditions related to their work in nuclear facilities for the Department of Energy. As a fast-growing, leading provider of personalized, in-home care, we serve patients across Arizona, Colorado, Kentucky, Missouri, Nevada, New Mexico, Tennessee, Texas, and Utah. The Compliance Officer oversees and manages all compliance activities at the Albuquerque and Farmington offices to ensure the organization operates in accordance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and internal policies. This role works closely with the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) to provide guidance, oversight, and education, promoting a culture of integrity, compliance, and ethical conduct throughout home health operations.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO), operations team, and HR regarding compliance requirements for contractors.
  • Participate in planning, developing, and implementing compliance activities.
  • Communicate regularly with Executive Directors in New Mexico regarding compliance-related functions.
  • Review and become familiar with all policies and procedures, both clinical and non-clinical, ensuring compliance with federal and state laws.
  • Assist with the implementation and education of new and updated policies to ensure company-wide adherence.
  • Review and ensure all company-wide policies and procedures comply with applicable laws.
  • Review and become familiar with the Employee Handbook; assist with implementation and education of updates.
  • Interpret and disseminate information on regulatory and compliance matters to employees.
  • Educate and train employees in assigned offices on compliance topics with guidance from the CCO.
  • Manage the compliance hotline process, including investigation, follow-up, and corrective action.
  • Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Obtain Certified Professional Compliance Officer (CPCO) or Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) certification within the first 8 months of employment.
  • Oversee medical records requests, HIPAA matters, OSHA reporting, and other state and federal compliance-related issues.
  • Identify offenses, respond promptly, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Conduct unscheduled visits to ensure quality of care and compliance with agency standards.
  • Follow best practices to minimize the risk of healthcare data breaches.
  • Serve as a member of the Executive Compliance Committee.
  • Assist other offices and locations as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, with responsibilities subject to change based on organizational needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in healthcare administration, nursing, business, compliance, public health, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) or other clinical background preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in healthcare compliance, preferably in home health, hospice, or related post-acute settings.
  • Proven experience conducting compliance audits, investigations, and education programs.
  • Strong knowledge of DOL and other federal regulations, state regulations, HIPAA, and OIG compliance guidance.
  • Ability to interpret rules and regulations and make recommendations to management.
  • Ability to remain calm and perform duties accurately in crisis or emergency situations.

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills and proper phone etiquette.
  • Ability to impart information and instructions clearly and concisely.
  • Strong collaboration skills; ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
  • Knowledge of principles for providing excellent customer service and satisfaction.

Qualifications (Preferred)

  • Compliance Officer (CPCO) certification or Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC).

Schedule

This is a full-time position, with regular working hours from Monday through Friday. Evening and weekend work may be required as necessary to meet job demands.
