About the Legal & Regulatory Group
The Legal & Regulatory Group at Bridgewater partners with various businesses to safeguard the legal and regulatory interests of the firm and its clients. The group handles corporate, investment management, private funds, intellectual property, employment, and commercial law, among other areas. They collaborate closely with multiple departments and manage relationships with external counsel and regulatory consultants.
About Your Role
The Compliance Officer will contribute to Bridgewater’s compliance program from day one. Key responsibilities include:
- Advising on regulatory frameworks for marketing products and services
- Reviewing marketing materials and overseeing AI applications
- Maintaining state lobbyist filings, approving gifts and entertainment, and conducting bad actor checks
- Supporting front office staff with regulatory matters
- Overseeing vendors and consultants to ensure quality outcomes
- Navigating and advising on compliance, client service, and investment complexities
Minimum Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience in law firms or in-house legal/compliance teams specializing in financial services regulation
- High intellectual horsepower, agility, logical reasoning, practicality, and curiosity
- Comfortable operating independently while seeking guidance when necessary
- Strong project management and oversight capabilities; willingness to hold others accountable to deadlines and obligations
- Excellent interpersonal skills; professional, team-oriented with a strong work ethic and a "can-do, will-do" attitude
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills
- A J.D. is preferred, but not required for the right candidate
- Familiarity with regulations applicable to alternative investment managers and private funds is beneficial but not mandatory
Physical Requirements
The Compliance Officer must be available for four days per week at Bridgewater’s Westport, CT campus.
Compensation
The base salary for this role ranges from $160,000 to $245,000, with a discretionary bonus. The expected base salary is between 70-90% of the total range.
