About the Role
Ruers Companies is seeking an energetic, dedicated professional to join our team in Austin, TX as a Compliance Manager. We are a 2025 USA Today Top Workplace and a national leader in multifamily real estate investment, development, construction, and property management.
Responsibilities
- Leadership & Team Management: Supervise, coach, and develop Compliance Specialists and Senior Compliance Specialists, conduct regular one-on-ones and performance evaluations, and support recruiting, onboarding, and training of new team members.
- Compliance Operations: Oversee processing of initial certifications, annual recertifications, and unit transfers, ensure compliance files meet company quality standards, and monitor processing timelines.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable affordable housing programs, including LIHTC, HUD, HOME, and state Housing Finance Agency requirements.
- Quality Assurance: Perform quality control reviews and file audits, identify accuracy trends, and develop corrective action plans.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve department efficiency and workflow, assist in developing and maintaining department policies and procedures, and recommend process improvements.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with property operations, regional managers, leasing, asset management, accounting, and development.
- Reporting & Performance Management: Monitor departmental productivity and performance metrics, prepare reports for the Director of Compliance, and assist with portfolio compliance reporting and departmental goal setting.
Requirements
- Extensive knowledge of LIHTC regulations and affordable housing compliance.
- Strong leadership and coaching skills.
- Ability to interpret complex regulations and communicate them effectively.
- Outstanding organizational and project management abilities.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Experience interpreting federal, state, and investor regulations.

Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Housing Credit Certified Professional (HCCP), Certified Occupancy Specialist (COS), Specialist in Housing Credit Management (SHCM), or equivalent designation.
- Experience with Yardi Voyager.
- Experience with Rent Café Affordable Housing (RCAH).
- Experience managing a centralized compliance department.

Pay
Pay Range: $93,100 - $122,500. Compensation is determined by several factors that vary depending on the position, including the individual’s experience, skills, and the knowledge they bring to the specific role.
