About the role
Baker Tilly is currently seeking a Compliance & Internal Audit Consultant for 2027. The Staff Consultant position is a cross-functional role that focuses on providing grant management and compliance consulting services, internal audit services, and policy and procedure development support primarily for governmental, tribal, and not-for-profit entities.
Responsibilities
- Supports project start-up and planning activities, such as conducting research of compliance or other requirements (federal, state, grant-specific, etc.) and documenting results.
- Performs detailed grant compliance testing including reviewing financial reports/invoices and conducting desk reviews.
- Works collaboratively with clients to understand current business practices, identify opportunities for improvement, assist in defining new processes, and assist in drafting policies and procedures.
- Conducts detailed transaction testing for compliance with established criteria and requirements.
- Attends client interviews/meetings, reviews client documents/reports, performs a variety of analysis/testing procedures, and assists in compiling information such as draft findings and recommendations and process memos.
- Supports consulting activities that include conducting interviews, reviewing documents, performing a variety of analysis, and assisting in preparing client deliverables such as findings, recommendations, and draft and final reports.
- Reviews their own documentation/work for accuracy.
- Occasionally travels to client locations, firm training, or industry conferences.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
- Coursework in technology-related fields highly desirable
- Ability to commute as needed throughout the region; to include Baker Tilly's offices
- Ability to travel to client locations, including overnight stays, with travel expectations varying by department and office locations
- Seasonal flexibility to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed
- There is currently no immigration sponsorship available for this position
- Must be a current Summer 2026 Baker Tilly Intern
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's in accounting, MBA or MPA preferred

Pay
- In San Francisco, CA: pay rate range is $81,900 to $116,160
- In Albuquerque, NM: pay rate range is $64,670 to $84,890
