Compliance Engineer

Job Summary

The Compliance Engineer will drive "Design for Compliance" initiatives, manage in-house and third-party compliance testing, and ensure global certifications for new product introductions.

Join our Hardware team to help ensure our wearable technology meets the highest standards of safety and compliance.

What You Will Do

• Drive "Design for Compliance" initiatives from start to finish, collaborating with Hardware and Firmware Engineering teams.
• Conduct and oversee in-house and third-party compliance testing, validation efforts, and complex regulatory issue analysis.
• Manage relationships and project timelines with external regulatory test labs and agencies.
• Navigate global product safety and regulatory standards (FCC, ISED, EU, etc.) to ensure seamless market access and sustaining compliance for existing products.
• Partner closely with OEM and ODM partners to ensure manufacturing processes align with Oura’s rigorous compliance and quality standards.
• Independently establish structure and clarity within the compliance function, proactively identifying critical path dependencies that could impact launch timelines.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in Product Compliance specifically within the consumer electronics industry.
• Strong technical knowledge of global regulatory standards including FCC, ISED, and EU/CE requirements.
• Proven experience working directly with 3rd party labs and managing OEM/ODM compliance relationships.
• Deep understanding of the hardware product development lifecycle (PDL) and its impact on certification timelines.
• Exceptional ability to prioritize competing business needs and communicate technical requirements to non-technical stakeholders.
• Provide Certification updates and maintain the internal certification database.
• Prepare and maintain test samples for engineering validation and testing.

Pay

Region 1 (SF): $172,000 - $203,000

This is a hybrid role out of our San Francisco office.
