Compliance Coordinator (Athletics Administrative Professional I)

Supports the SDSU Athletics Compliance Office in fostering a culture of integrity and adherence to NCAA, conference, and university rules. Under the supervision of the Assistant Athletic Director of Compliance and the Deputy Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Experience, assists with compliance monitoring, rules education, and interpretation while serving as a compliance liaison for multiple sports.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and support compliance monitoring activities related to NCAA Bylaws 16 and 17, including playing and practice seasons, CARA/RARA, time management plans, outside competition, awards, benefits, and summer workouts.
  • Support recruiting compliance by reviewing official and unofficial visit documentation, monitoring recruiting activities, coordinating camps and clinics processes, and supporting complimentary admissions and student-athlete clearance activities.
  • Assist with compliance education by preparing and updating rules education materials, coordinating presentations and certification meetings, and communicating relevant NCAA recruiting calendars and policies.
  • Support rules interpretation and enforcement efforts by maintaining databases, researching NCAA, conference, and SDSU rules, and assisting senior staff with interpretations, waivers, allegations, and self-reports.
  • Serve as a compliance liaison for assigned sports and collaborate with coaches, student-athletes, Athletics staff, and university partners to support adherence to applicable rules and regulations.

Position Information

This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits-eligible, temporary position with an anticipated end date of June 30, 2027, with the possibility of reappointment. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs. The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.

Requirements

Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field. Relevant education and/or experience which demonstrates acquired and successfully applied knowledge and abilities may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Qualifications

  • Progress towards or completion of graduate or advanced degree.
  • At least 6 months experience working in a Division I NCAA compliance office.
  • Basic knowledge of NCAA, conference, and SDSU rules, especially in the area of recruiting.
  • Previous experience as an NCAA student-athlete.
  • Experience with NCAA’s LSDBi and RSRO systems.
  • Ability to organize and plan work and projects.
  • Ability to create and maintain a database, track information, and report statistics.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally, with a broad spectrum of people.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Experience with writing correspondence.

Pay

Step placement will be determined based on relevant qualifications and professional experience, in alignment with the department’s budget and equity guidelines. Initial step placement is not expected to exceed Step 1 ($4,482). Salary step placement for internal applicants will follow the CSUEU Collective Bargaining Agreement. CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,482 - $6,530 per month (Step 1 – Step 20). Future increases, including step advancements, are subject to contract negotiations.
