Compliance Coordinator

About the role

The Compliance Coordinator will work across departments to ensure company compliance with a broad range of laws, regulations, and internal policies. The position is based in Boise, ID and is part of the Legal department.

Responsibilities

  • Manage compliance policies and procedures applicable to retail furniture business to ensure they are updated, documented, and changes are communicated as needed.
  • Work closely with the buying team to ensure purchased merchandise and outside vendors meet internal, external, and federally mandated quality control and testing standards.
  • Manage company-wide compliance with various state and federal regulatory regimes including Prop 65, state bedding, and upholstered furniture regulations, CPSC and CPSIA compliance, Lacey ACT, STURDY ACT, etc.
  • Interpret complex furniture testing reports and quality control audit findings, and make informed recommendations aligned with applicable compliance and regulatory standards.
  • Track performance data, ensure accurate record keeping, and implement consistent follow-up to support quality and compliance objectives.
  • Foster a culture of honesty and accountability through positive informative communications and messaging.
  • Ensure compliance and safety for our products in store and online have proper standards, testing protocols, instructions, packaging, and labeling.
  • Maintain deep subject matter expertise of industry trends, regulatory compliance matters, and relevant retail knowledge both inside and outside of Scandinavian Designs.
  • Aid the Legal Department as needed on various projects.
  • Perform other special projects or duties when required.

Requirements

2+ years of compliance or similar experience strongly preferred. Retail furniture compliance experience is preferred, but other compliance experience in healthcare or other retail industries is also appreciated. Project management and team leadership experience a plus. Strong organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Ability to execute and deliver results.

Who You Are

This role operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely involves standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Prolonged sitting, standing, moderate reaching and occasional lifting up to 30 lbs. Occasional overtime and weekend work and travel to other locations.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree is required.
