Support daily activities within the Risk and Compliance Department, focusing on regulatory compliance, operational risk, and control reporting. Assist in the support of WCCU's Fraud Risk Management Program.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the development, implementation, and administration of compliance management systems under the direction of the Compliance Risk Manager to ensure ongoing organizational compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
- Proactively monitor compliance and regulatory alerts, announcements, and interpretations of changes in best practices, risk mitigation strategies, rules, and laws.
- Assist in the review and analysis of Currency Transaction Reports (CTR) for completeness and validity.
- Assist in the preparation and filing of Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR), including conducting internal investigations of illicit allegations involving credit union members and/or employees.
- Assist in resolving compliance issues and seek guidance from experts as necessary to address difficult compliance challenges.
- Support supervisors in devising reasonable solutions for non-compliance.
- Assist in determining the adequacy and soundness of internal controls to meet organizational goals while complying with policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.
- Assist with daily monitoring of system maintenance reports.
- Assist in the evaluation and response to records requests and court proceedings.
- Perform other job-related duties as necessary to carry out the responsibilities of this position.
- Pursue and obtain applicable industry-accepted certifications.
Requirements
- Experience in a financial institution preferred.
- Manage personal workflow, incoming calls, and meet deadlines with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and minimal supervision.
- Analyze problems (not just symptoms), propose reasonable solutions, make logical decisions, implement them, and follow up with feedback where appropriate.
- Maintain stable and courteous business relations with employees and others.
- Work effectively with a wide range of personalities in a courteous, efficient manner.
- Apply knowledge of current financial service industry standards, laws, and regulations.
- Present ideas, report facts, and convey information clearly and concisely.
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Operate general office equipment such as computers, software applications, typewriters, calculators, telephones, copiers, fax machines, and related devices or programs.
Work Relationships and Scope
- Reports directly to the Compliance Risk Manager.
- Regular contact with employees in the Risk Department.
- Maintain the integrity of confidential business information and adhere to all confidentiality guidelines.
- Provide outstanding service to co-workers and members.
- Handle numerous details with frequent interruptions while maintaining courteous, effective, and timely relations with individuals of varying personalities.
