About the role
As the Compliance and Quality Assurance Coordinator, you will coordinate daily communication between factories/suppliers and internal departments to ensure factory compliance and meet customer and brand product quality expectations through testing and inspection.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate products to ensure compliance with ULAC testing standards and customer testing requirements by examining physical product samples with cross-functional teams.
- Provide support for onboarding and setting up new factories/suppliers.
- Ensure ongoing adherence of factories/suppliers to social & environmental compliance, security audits, and quality audits for various brands, retailers, and customers.
- Proactively work with factories/suppliers on remediation plans to improve compliance ratings.
- Communicate daily with factories/suppliers to request required regulatory and performance testing for softlines and hardlines products.
- Evaluate testing reports for softlines and hardlines products.
- Manage and resolve testing failures and non-compliance issues with factories/suppliers and retailers.
- Ensure testing requirements for major retailers are met.
- Maintain documentation and update testing status in internal systems.
- Communicate potential issues to cross-functional teams.
- Issue General Conformity Certificates to suppliers upon receipt of all required passing test reports.
- Coordinate with third-party testing labs and audit firms to finalize testing protocols, review testing charges, and audit programs.
- Demonstrate a good understanding of apparel sustainability initiatives, such as Higg Index, GRS, RCS, and GOTS.
- Perform any other duties as requested by management to support company needs and operations.
Requirements
- Must have a fashion/apparel background.
- Minimum of 2 years of work experience in apparel production, product testing, and/or factory compliance.
- Knowledge of US federal and state safety regulations for apparel, including CPSC, CPSIA, and CA Prop 65.
- Experience with testing programs and factory compliance for major retailers (e.g., Walmart, Costco, Kohl’s) is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously while consistently meeting deadlines.
