Complex Claims Director, Severity

About the role

Join us as a Complex Director in Excess Claims to contribute to the transformation of how we help customers manage risk. Handling some of the largest and most complex Casualty claims, you'll be responsible for investigating, evaluating, and disposing of claims involving multi-vehicle auto accidents, plant explosions, class action injury claims, and catastrophic product liability claims.

Responsibilities

• Review coverage under Excess Commercial General Liability and Auto policies
• Participate in the investigation of the claim and control litigation strategy
• Direct the litigation, attend mediations and trials
• Assess liability and damages, and recommend reserves
• Present large value cases to senior management
• Communicate with insureds, brokers, attorneys, and claimants with excellent customer service skills
• Determine the scope and extent of available coverage
• Prepare and execute investigation strategies identifying critical issues affecting liability, causation, and damages
• Document exposure evaluation and resolution strategy
• Present claim disposition recommendations to senior management
• Negotiate multimillion-dollar claims with top plaintiff attorneys nationwide
• Utilize Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) as necessary
• Evaluate and budget litigation costs with defense and coverage counsel

Requirements

• 8+ years of Commercial/Industry claims experience preferred
• Excellent communication and strong negotiation skills
• Advanced experience and capabilities in litigation claims management including ADR and mediation process
• Property and Casualty licenses required, must be obtained within 6 months
• Motivated individuals interested in an upwardly mobile career path

• Base salary range: $112,000 - $140,000
