About the role

This is a remote position handling litigated and non-litigated complex casualty/bodily injury claims for Homeowners policies. Candidates must be available during normal EST business hours to serve customers in the Northeast.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate, evaluate, and negotiate settlements while applying technical knowledge and skills to effect fair and prompt resolution of cases.
  • Adjust reserves and provide recommendations to ensure reserving activities are consistent with corporate policies.
  • Communicate reserve and reinsurance notices and reports effectively.
  • Communicate promptly and professionally with all parties when answering questions and gathering claim information, adhering to company service standards and claims handling guidelines.
  • Effectively manage and control litigation and claim expenses (budgets, experts, and claim strategies).
  • Confer and direct legal counsel on claims requiring litigation, attend mediations, arbitrations, and/or trials when necessary.
  • Handle ISO claim input and reporting, resolving claims within designated authority level.
  • Maintain claim files with professional notes, claim summary, detailed analysis, and specific action plan with target dates.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management and mentor less experienced staff.
  • Travel as required to attend meetings, trials, mediations, or other legal proceedings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (required).
  • 8+ years of experience managing and handling complex casualty/bodily injury claims at an insurance carrier.
  • Continued insurance education and/or designations.
  • Licensing, or the ability to become licensed, in all states where Kingstone policies are written.
  • Knowledge of Medicare Reporting guidelines and Medicare Set Aside qualifications.
  • Thorough technical understanding of insurance coverage and claim procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote environment and perform under stressful situations.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.

Pay

$90,000 - $125,000 per year.
