Complex Area APRN - Kailua High School
About the role
School nursing practice requires the combination of professional clinical nursing practice with promotion of the health, well-being, academic achievement, and success of the school-age child. The Complex Area APRN works closely with RNs, Health Technicians (HT), and school health assistants (SHA) to provide primary care services to children in the health room utilizing a virtual platform. Based in a school health clinic at Kailua High School and the Kailua‑Kalaheo Complex Area, the APRN serves as a clinical consultant and provides clinical care for students within the complex area, provides in‑clinic patient care, acts as a clinical advisor to Hawaii Keiki staff in the same Complex Area, and delivers telehealth services statewide. Responsibilities
- Provide primary care services to students in the health room using a virtual platform.
- Collaborate with RNs, Health Technicians, and school health assistants.
- Serve as a clinical consultant and provide clinical care for students within the complex area.
- Act as a clinical advisor to Hawaii Keiki staff in the same Complex Area.
- Deliver telehealth services statewide.
- Attend scheduled meetings and events during non‑student days to meet professional responsibilities.
Requirements
- Graduate degree in nursing.
- License as an APRN and/or APRN Rx.
- BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
- One year of experience in community‑based health settings, school nursing, or pediatric nursing.
- Experience with electronic health records and reporting.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of state medical information release procedures and laws.
- Knowledge of HIPAA rules, regulations, and compliance.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations for blood borne pathogens.
