Complex Adult Health Clinical Nursing Instructor (Part-Time)

About the role
As a Part-Time Visiting Professor, you will inspire motivated students to realize their educational and career goals. You will create impactful learning experiences for nursing students, particularly in clinical settings.
We operate on a hybrid schedule with four in-office days per week (Monday–Thursday) to enhance creativity, innovation, communication, and relationship-building.
Responsibilities
- Implement the College's philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through clinical teaching and service to the College, community, health system, and profession.
- Assume responsibility for all autonomous aspects of individual teaching loads.
- Plan clinical experiences and provide direct supervision and evaluation of nursing students delivering care to individuals or groups.
- Make yourself available to staff at clinical agencies.
- Evaluate and provide documented feedback to students on performance based on course objectives.
- Be available for student remediation as required or needed.
- Maintain current knowledge of agency/clinical policies, procedures, and expectations with assistance from agency personnel.
- Develop and post written clinical assignments consistent with students' knowledge base, skill competency, and learning needs.
- Correct and return homework, quizzes, tests, lab assignments, clinical paperwork, and other written work in a timely manner.
- Contribute to the ongoing development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and the College.
- May teach didactic course content under the supervision of a course coordinator.
- Keep the course coordinator informed of all student and agency issues and concerns.
- Work with college administration, staff, and other faculty to improve the overall operation of the college and student satisfaction rates.
- Participate in the College Assessment Program, campus retention efforts, and both departmental and campus policies.
- Serve as a professional role model in areas such as customer service, collaboration, communication, excellence, dress, attendance, and professionalism.
- Utilize relationship skills in group problem-solving, consensus-building, and negotiation.
- Comply with all applicable regulatory rules and standards.
- Report to the dean or assistant dean; a course coordinator will also provide direct oversight.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in Nursing (Required).
- 2+ years of experience within the last five years in the practice of nursing as a registered nurse (Required).
- Professional Nurse licensure is required in the state of practice (Required).
- Excellent communication skills with a high level of initiative and prudent judgment.
Schedule
Schedule is determined based on course needs and clinical specialty for each 8-week session. Typically, clinical instructors are scheduled for 2-3 consecutive 12-hour shifts over 1-2 weeks per session. Additional dates may not always be available, and clinical dates are not guaranteed for every session.
For the Complex Adult Health Critical Care course, students demonstrate nursing skills in an inpatient healthcare center, focusing on adult patients with unstable, emergent critical illnesses. Students integrate nursing, technological, and scientific knowledge with clinical judgment to optimize health outcomes for a diverse patient population.
Pay
The expected compensation rate for this position is between $1,120 per assignment to $7,245 per assignment, depending on the candidate’s education and experience. Actual pay may be adjusted based on factors such as the type of course taught, geographic location, licensure, certifications, market factors, and departmental budgets.
