Complex Adult Health Clinical Nursing Instructor (Part-Time)

As a Part-Time Visiting Professor, you will inspire nursing students to achieve their educational and career goals while enjoying a flexible schedule, strong mentorship, and opportunities for career growth. Responsibilities

• Implement the College’s philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through clinical teaching and service.
• Assume responsibility for all autonomous aspects of individual teaching loads, including planning and supervising clinical experiences.
• Provide direct supervision and evaluation of nursing students delivering care to individuals or groups.
• Make yourself available to staff at clinical agencies and maintain current knowledge of agency policies and procedures.
• Develop and post clinical assignments tailored to students’ knowledge base, skill competency, and learning needs.
• Evaluate and provide documented feedback on student performance based on course objectives, including remediation as needed.
• Correct and return assignments, quizzes, tests, and clinical paperwork in a timely manner.
• Contribute to program development, implementation, and evaluation, and collaborate with administration to improve college operations and student satisfaction.
• Participate in the College Assessment Program, campus retention efforts, and policy implementation.
• Serve as a professional role model in areas such as customer service, collaboration, communication, and professionalism.
• Utilize relationship skills for group problem-solving, consensus-building, and negotiation.
• Comply with all regulatory rules and standards, and report to the dean or assistant dean with oversight from a course coordinator.
• Teach Complex Adult Health, focusing on adult patient needs, health promotion, and management of acute and chronic conditions using the nursing process. Support students’ professional skill development as part of the health team.

Schedule

• Schedule is determined based on course needs and clinical specialty for each 8-week session.
• Days and hours may vary depending on the course and clinical partner.
• Clinical dates are not guaranteed for every session, and additional dates may not be available.

Requirements

• A master’s or doctoral degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited college or university.
• An unencumbered professional RN nursing license in Michigan (Illinois RN license required to teach all courses; assignments prioritized for those licensed in Illinois).
• Active BLS certification (American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Military Training Network).
• At least two years of professional experience within the last five years in the area of instruction as a registered nurse.

Pay

The expected compensation rate for this position ranges from $1,120 to $7,245 per assignment, depending on education, experience, course type, geographic location, licensure, market factors, and departmental budgets.
