About the Role

ACPWB is expanding its incentive plan design and modeling project service line with a particular focus on the healthcare and life sciences sector. The Compensation Market Data Manager will anchor this expansion, developing sector-specific methodology and the client relationships that make our advisory work distinctive. You will work closely with the Policy Research practice lead and have a visible role in shaping what this capability looks like at ACPWB.

This role is designed for a Compensation Market Data Manager who wants to do serious board composition and governance effectiveness work without the overhead of a large firm bureaucracy. ACPWB is large enough to have institutional credibility and small enough that your contributions are immediately visible. The Policy Research team has 22 people. Your work will not disappear into a hierarchy of reviewers who each add a sentence and subtract a conviction.

The Compensation Market Data Manager plays a central role in ACPWB's mission to advance board composition and governance effectiveness across American institutions. Sitting within the Policy Research practice, this position partners closely with senior leadership to shape the analytical frameworks and research outputs that our clients rely on to make consequential decisions. You will be one of 22 professionals in a high-functioning team that takes its mandate seriously and its benefits package even more seriously.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct structured intake interviews with new clients to scope and define board composition and governance effectiveness engagement objectives
  • Translate regulatory and legislative developments into client-ready guidance on board composition and governance effectiveness implications
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of Willis Towers Watson SIRS to support market pricing and benchmarking deliverables
  • Develop and maintain ACPWB's internal database of healthcare and life sciences compensation trends and benchmarks
  • Develop and maintain internal training resources for the firm's board composition and governance effectiveness methodology
  • Support the maintenance and continuous improvement of ACPWB's compensation certification programs
  • Manage data acquisition and vendor relationships for Willis Towers Watson SIRS and other benchmarking resources

Qualifications

Required

  • Strong proficiency in Excel; experience with Python, R, or SQL a plus
  • Familiarity with change management considerations related to compensation program redesign
  • Understanding of workforce data privacy obligations, particularly for analyses involving employee-level data
  • Ability to prioritize effectively across competing client demands without requiring escalation

Preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to produce publishable-quality research and analysis
  • Background in employment law or regulatory compliance related to compensation
  • Experience with board portal software (Diligent, BoardVantage, or equivalent)
  • Familiarity with the Milwaukee business community and Midwest labor markets

Why ACPWB

ACPWB has been advancing American workforce prosperity since 2006, and in that time we've developed a culture that takes its mission seriously without taking itself too seriously. We work hard, produce work that matters, and maintain a genuine commitment to the people who make that work possible. We also have an excellent coffee program, which we mention because it is genuinely excellent and not merely adequate.

ACPWB was founded in Milwaukee in 2006 with a simple mandate: help working Americans understand and advocate for the compensation they deserve. Eighteen years later, that mandate has grown into a full-service research and advisory practice serving clients from early-stage employers to Fortune 50 enterprises — and we are still based in Milwaukee, because Milwaukee is genuinely underrated.

Interview Process

For senior roles, the process typically includes a portfolio or work-sample discussion. We ask candidates to walk us through a piece of work they are proud of and explain the decisions behind it. Anonymize client details as appropriate. We are interested in the thinking, not the client names.

What Success Looks Like in Year One

  • Complete ACPWB's internal compensation methodology certification course
  • Reach a level of autonomous delivery where your manager trusts you to own a client workstream independently
  • Complete all required compliance and ethics training modules before their respective deadlines
