Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, HR management or related field
  • Experience: Three years of Human Resources experience which includes one year of compensation (e.g., market pricing, pay equity review, modeling and costing, manipulation and analysis of data)
  • Licenses and Certifications: Preferred, Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) WorldatWork certification

  • Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job, determined through on-going skills, competency assessments, and performance evaluations
  • Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job, especially with regards to activities impacting patient or employee safety or security
  • Knowledge of pay plan administration basics such as market pricing, creating and maintaining pay structures, market adjustment costing, and project status documentation
  • Advanced user of spreadsheet applications and competent at word processing and presentation software
  • Must be results oriented and highly organized
  • Ability to build collaborative partnerships and work effectively with peers in a team situation
  • Professional handling of exposure to confidential/sensitive information
  • Demonstrates keen attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to evaluate, prioritize and adapt quickly to change and problem solve a variety of tasks while ensuring timely and accurate completion of workload
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative in areas of responsibility
  • Strong time management skills
  • Presentation and training skills
  • Familiarity with database software used for pay plan maintenance

Essential Functions

  • People Essential Functions: Serves as a resource and trainer for new compensation staff; orients, team members to help build confidence and competency in Houston Methodist systems and compensation practices.
  • Service Essential Functions: Consults with HR partners on operational challenges that impact compensation. In conjunction with Compensation leadership, develops recommendations within compensation guidelines in support of operations.
  • Quality/Safety Essential Functions: Audits compensation programs and data for assigned projects to ensure accuracy of reporting and payout. Assists colleagues and clients to ensure accuracy of data.
  • Finance Essential Functions: Provides compensation recommendations that offer adaptability for changes in financial or operational goals. Maintains pay tables and salary structure data, participates in survey submissions, presents information to stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Growth/Innovation Essential Functions: Partners with Information Technology, Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), and other departments as needed to promote accuracy of data and process improvements. Offers innovative solutions through participation in performance improvement projects and activities.
