About the role

The California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) is recruiting for a full-time permanent Supervisor I position in the Employer Account Management Division's Compensation Compliance & Review (CCR) Section. This position works under the general direction of the CCR's Supervisor II and is responsible for managing and operational activities within a CCR unit.

Responsibilities

  • Review and approve analyses to ensure consistent interpretation and application of statutes, regulations, and procedures under the Public Employees Retirement Law.
  • Lead and consult with stakeholders to address noncompliance findings, implement corrective actions, and update business practices to ensure alignment with CalPERS programs and processes.
  • Provide team guidance, training, and coaching to meet deadlines and ensure compliance with state policies, laws, and regulations.
  • Perform quality assurance reviews, evaluate legal appeals, and assess legislation for compliance implications.
  • Serve as a technical liaison, conducting research and validating requirements for myCalPERS enhancements, defect resolutions, and new program initiatives.
  • Travel may be required.

Requirements

Under the supervision of the CCR's Supervisor II, the Supervisor I is responsible for the overall management and operational activities of a CCR unit. The position requires a bachelor's degree in a related field and at least 3 years of progressively responsible experience in compensation compliance, labor relations, or a related field. Knowledge of the Public Employees Retirement Law, familiarity with CalPERS programs and processes, and strong interpersonal and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

To be considered, applicants must meet the minimum qualifications outlined in the Classification Specification. These include a bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of progressively responsible experience in compensation compliance, labor relations, or a related field. Applicants must also possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Skills

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills are required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with CalPERS systems is preferred.

CalPERS offers competitive benefits including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off. The position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with up to two days of remote work and three days or more onsite per week.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $7,172.00 - $8,910.00 per month, with a potential 3% reduction in pay for participation in the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025).

Schedule

This position is a permanent, full-time role based in Sacramento County, with a hybrid work schedule.
