About the Role

This position is part of the Organizational & Talent Development team and provides Aviation Department leadership and support in the administration and implementation of the City’s compensation and classification programs. The role performs compensation analysis, market pricing, classification support, salary administration, and workforce analytics activities to support equitable and competitive pay practices aligned with City Human Resources policies and guidelines. This position reports to the Aviation Human Resources Manager and maintains a matrixed working relationship with the City Compensation Manager to ensure consistency with enterprise compensation philosophy, programs, and practices. Acts as a liaison between Aviation and the central HR Compensation team.

Responsibilities

  • Administers and supports implementation of the City’s compensation philosophy, salary structures, pay programs, and compensation guidelines within the Department.
  • Conducts market pricing and compensation analyses for Department-related classifications and positions.
  • Administers classification studies, reclassification reviews, and job analysis activities.
  • Collaborates with the City Compensation division on compensation administration, classification matters, and organizational reviews impacting Department positions.
  • Reviews compensation data and workforce trends to support pay recommendations and organizational decision-making.
  • Performs salary surveys, benchmarking activities, and labor market research.
  • Supports annual compensation planning and budget development activities through compensation cost analysis and reporting.
  • Prepares compensation reports, presentations, and supporting documentation for leadership review.
  • Monitors pay practices and conducts regular internal equity and compliance reviews.
  • Provides guidance to managers and Organizational & Talent Development staff regarding compensation policies, classification procedures, job design, and pay administration practices.
  • Collaborates with Talent Acquisition, Employee Relations, Finance, and other internal and external stakeholders to support workforce initiatives.
  • Ensures compensation and classification activities comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and City policies.
  • Maintains compensation records, job documentation, and related data systems.
  • Participates in process improvement initiatives related to compensation and classification administration.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Analytics, or a related field AND three (3) years of professional experience in compensation, classification, human resources analytics, or related human resources functions; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Certified Compensation Professional (CCP).

Physical/Mental Requirements

  • This position is sedentary in nature and primarily involves sitting for extended periods while performing computer-based work.
  • Work may also involve standing, walking, bending, reaching, carrying, and lifting materials weighing up to 20 pounds occasionally.
  • Work requires concentrated visual attention for reviewing reports, analyzing data, and preparing documents.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and operate in an environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities.

Working Environment

  • Work is primarily performed in an office environment with occasional exposure to airport operational environments.
  • Position may require occasional evening or weekend work based on operational or project needs.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Must maintain the ability to obtain and maintain airport security and driving privileges as required.

Schedule

Works standard business hours, Monday - Friday. Hybrid work schedule—onsite and remote. Schedule could be subject to occasional irregular hours, overtime, and emergency calls back to work.

Additional Information

  • Successful candidate must hold a driver’s license in state of residency and ability to obtain and maintain a City Driving Permit.
  • Ability to pass a background check in advance of start date required. Certain convictions will disqualify individuals from unescorted access privileges and therefore exclude from employment.
