About the Role
The Compensation Analyst II will assist in maintaining the TAMU compensation program, providing recommendations on various compensation projects, and reviewing compensation and supplemental compensation requests. This position serves as the primary point of contact for merit processing associated with the annual budget process and participates in strategic HR-related projects as a subject matter expert for compensation and related issues.
Responsibilities
- Assists Classification Specialists with career paths and determines appropriate starting rates based on market data.
- Serves as the main point of contact for market study requests.
- Provides departments with cost projections relating to various compensation reviews.
- Reviews and interprets University Rules and Standard Administrative Procedures (SAPs) regarding compensation matters.
- Provides recommendations for revisions to SAPs, policies, and procedures regarding compensation matters.
- Interprets and applies Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) criteria to compensation tasks and projects.
- Responds to inquiries from department HR contacts and division/executive office contacts regarding compensation.
- Researches and maintains the Texas A&M University compensation philosophy.
- Monitors inquiries in the ticketing system and responds to compensation and market-related inquiries.
- May serve on committees, working groups, or teach compensation workshops as assigned.
- Ensures market data sources, benchmark jobs, and methods for determining pay ranges are documented appropriately.
- Collects market data and participates in salary surveys.
- Monitors and maintains records of implemented rates and timing of market data collection.
- Analyzes salary data for issues and makes recommendations for corrections.
- Reviews and provides recommendations for approval of compensation-related requests.
- Reviews Supplemental Compensation Request Forms and determines the appropriate payment route.
- Assists in the review and processing of faculty allowances and one-time payments.
- Answers complex questions or provides policy interpretation regarding supplemental compensation.
- Serves as a mentor and trainer for other Classification and Compensation Team members.
- Assists with special projects as needed.
- Greets customers professionally and courteously, assisting them with inquiries.
- Performs additional work duties as assigned.
- Maintains confidentiality of all employee information.
- Maintains knowledge of federal, state, and standard administrative procedures governing compensation.
- Actively participates in team meetings and events.
- Works cooperatively with all HR team members, employees, and managers.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Three years of Human Resources experience, including some compensation-related tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Human Resources Management, Human Resources Development, or equivalent.
- Two years of experience in compensation administration.
- Higher education HR experience.
- Human Capital Management software experience.
- Ability to analyze and map job descriptions to appropriate job titles and classifications.
- Advanced experience in Excel.
Skills
- Working knowledge of database, spreadsheet, and word processing programs.
- Knowledge of compensation strategies, including benchmarking, market pricing, and compensation budget modeling.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
- Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Pay
$59,240.00 annually ($4,936.67 monthly)
Other Requirements
- This position is security-sensitive.
- Requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TAMU policies, regulations, rules, and procedures.
- All tasks must be performed safely in compliance with System and University safety requirements.
