Summary

The Compensation Analyst will support the day-to-day administration and maintenance of compensation programs and systems to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and compensation strategy. The role involves responding to salary placement review requests, interpreting and enforcing compensation policies, conducting compensation studies, participating in salary surveys, standardizing job descriptions, performing job analyses, and maintaining job classifications and pay grades.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responds to compensation salary placement review requests on offers, transfers, promotions, etc., efficiently and effectively.
  • Interprets and enforces compensation policies and practices while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws.
  • Conducts compensation studies, including market analysis, internal equity reviews, job valuation, and classification assessments to drive competitive pay strategies.
  • Participates in designated salary surveys and receives and analyzes results, under the direction of departmental leadership.
  • Standardizes, maintains, and catalogs job descriptions, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with organizational and legal standards.
  • Captures, documents, and validates essential job duties and responsibilities, skills, and requirements for each job through interviews and surveys with employees and business department leadership.
  • Performs job analysis, evaluations, and benchmarking to determine appropriate classifications and pay grade placements.
  • Provides summary reporting to assess market competitiveness.
  • Maintains proper job classification and pay ranges, including the establishment of new positions in the HR system.
  • Works closely with the HRIS function to ensure information in all systems is consistent and accurate.
  • Participates or leads cross-functional project teams that are related to compensation or related initiatives.
  • Maintains the highest level of confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive compensation-related data and processes.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business, Human Resources, or related discipline required.
  • Preferred Education and Experience: 1-3 years of experience in compensation program administration, job evaluation, or total rewards preferred. Corporate or healthcare industry experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Professional level of knowledge in compensation theory and practice as well as job evaluation methodologies.
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local regulations and compliance requirements related to broad-based compensation and human resources.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills with the ability to compile, analyze, interpret and communicate data in recommending solutions to unique and complex compensation issues.
  • Strong time and project management skills; ability to plan and adjust priorities.
  • Strong proficiency and technical aptitude with the use of MS Office products, especially Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to all levels of employees and external audiences as well.
  • Strong interpersonal and consultation skills necessary to obtain and exchange factual and technical data as well as to explain compensation concepts to a varied and complex organizational structure.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team and a collaboratively shared leadership environment.
