Companion Sitter - Home Health

About the role

Hiring Companion/Sitters in Washington for entry-level homemaker services. Functions under the direction of the Case Manager, subject to state regulations.

Qualifications

• Completion of the ninth grade; preference for high school graduate
• Able to read and write as required by the job
• Maturity necessary for a good working relationship with the client, client's family, and Agency personnel
• Neat, clean personal appearance
• Annual TB skin tests and documentation
• Reliable transportation
• Pass a skills validation test
• Experience and/or experience with caregiving
• Knowledge of the aging process and emotional issues related to illness and long-term home care
• Understanding of healthcare team roles and inter-relationships in care
• Basic housekeeping tasks
• Interest and concern for people
• Good judgment and tact in dealing with people
• Basic hygiene and knowledge of safety and sanitation
• Awareness of counseling availability for difficult cases and potentially dangerous situations

Essential Functions/Areas Of Accountability

• Follow the plan of care to maintain a healthful, safe environment
• Plan and prepare nutritious meals
• Provide positive emotional support while performing tasks in the client’s home
• Perform routine housekeeping tasks as instructed in the plan of care
• Establish a relationship with the client and the client’s family conveying trust and confidentiality
• Complete visit reports documenting services provided and obtaining client’s signature
• Report any client concerns or condition changes to the Agency Supervisor or Manager
• Carry out assignments as instructed by the plan of care and report to the supervisor if unable to do so
• Work in conjunction with other agencies involved in the client’s care as directed
• Maintain confidentiality
• Perform only specified functions for each individual client
• Never provide hands-on or skilled care for the client
• Follow emergency procedures and report incidents to the Agency Supervisor, Manager, or Agency

Pay

$17.50 - $20.00 hourly
