Companion Advocate

About the role

Full-time Companion Advocate position in the Senior/Junior Companion Program at Patchogue, responsible for daily program operations, volunteer supervision, training, documentation, data collection/reporting, and assisting clients with basic needs referrals and linkage.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and directly supervise volunteer activities
• Provide volunteer training and orientation
• Complete program documentation and data collection/reporting to meet funding source requirements
• Assist individuals served to meet basic needs by providing referrals, linkage, and hands‑on assistance with obtaining food, employment, housing, and financial assistance
• Support outreach services that meet people where they are (home, street, hospital, etc.)

Qualifications

• Clearance of nationwide name‑based NSOPW check
• Statewide Criminal History Registry Check
• Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment
• NYS Office of Mental Health Fingerprint‑based FBI check (Fieldprint)
• Clean and valid NYS driver’s license
• Bilingual applicants encouraged to apply
