Compact Press Operator
About the role
Perform a variety of routine and technical production tasks following prescribed methods and procedures with little or no supervision. Provide guidance and training to lower skilled personnel. Maintain work, product, and process flow for designated area.
Under close supervision and instruction of a higher-level Compact Sinter Technician, gain basic knowledge on adjusting production equipment on routine, repetitive jobs.
Responsibilities
- Read and follow detailed instructions on routine tasks
- Perform basic mathematical computations using decimals and fractions
- Maintain legible penmanship and accurately complete reports, charts, and other documents
- Read and interpret blueprints and drawings
- Organize work area and set priorities according to daily production requirements
- Apply understanding of visual management and its impact on processes
- Demonstrate basic mechanical aptitude and operate basic hand tools and surface grinding equipment
- Understand the powder metallurgy process along with basic knowledge of product processing and compact/coining tooling (fit, form, and function)
- Maintain a safe working area, identify potential safety and environmental hazards, and communicate them immediately to leaders
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent education
- Ability to work independently with limited direct supervision
