Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, remove, install, replace, re-build, repair, and test parts/equipment on construction equipment.
• Use miscellaneous resources and computers to reference parts, retrieve information, and enter data into record systems.
• Use tools to disassemble/reassemble parts or equipment; clean parts with rags, cleaners, or power washer; use test equipment for diagnostic checks; and control powered equipment or tools to make repairs.
• Climb up onto, under, and into vehicles to access all parts of the vehicle.
• Use overhead hoists, lift devices, forklifts, and other aids to move items off vehicles (e.g., tracks, idler wheels, blades) and transport parts for disassembly, repair, and reassembly.
• Perform inspections, preventative maintenance, oil changes, filter replacements, belt changes, coolant replacements, hose replacements, and fuel system draining/cleaning/refilling.
• Use welders to weld frames and wear strips, then use power grinders to smooth welds.
• Lift, carry, and position rams to remove idlers; unbolt and remove idlers using an overhead crane.
• Use power washers and spray paint equipment to clean and paint vehicles.
• Use instruments and computers to reprogram equipment controllers.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3-5 years of related experience.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the local language; read and comprehend technical data/service manuals; and write legibly.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 70 pounds.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, perform repetitive bending tasks, and achieve required torque specifications per manufacturer’s repair procedures.
• Basic keyboarding skills.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger/handle/feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
• Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell.
• Must frequently lift, carry, push, pull, or move up to 25 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• Must operate equipment in a safe manner.

Work Environment

• Exposure to moving mechanical parts and equipment, depending on site location.
• Occasional exposure to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; vibration; wet and/or humid conditions; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat; and risk of electrical shock.
• Noise level in some work environments may be loud.
