Community Work Experience Instructional Assistant

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Command of the English language
• Knowledge of pertinent academic areas and learning situations
• General needs and behaviors of students
• Proper classroom supervision techniques and procedures
• Knowledge of designated academic, vocational and/or specialized areas of learning
• Skill to verbally communicate in an effective and tactful manner
• To write clearly and understand the needs of assigned students
• To effectively relate to these needs in a learning situation
• Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action
• Supervise students in a variety of situations
• Establish and maintain accurate classroom records and files
• Operate standard office equipment including computer typewriter, copy machines, tape recorders and projectors
• Maintain calm and patience in stressful situations
• Understand and carry out oral and written instructions in an independent manner
• Establish and maintain cooperative work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties

DUTIES OF POSITION:

• Aid a certificated teacher (s) in the instruction, supervision and training of individual or groups of students
• Perform a variety of instructional support and student care activities
• Enhance the educational environment within the District
• Provide direct to limited supervision from a certificated teacher (s) and/or school site administrator within a well-defined framework of policies and procedures
• Perform a variety related duties in the maintenance of an effective learning and training environment at the Ruggenberg Career Center

STARTING SALARY: $2,390.10 (monthly)

NUMBER OF MONTHS: 9.4
