About the role
Join a team committed to helping individuals remain connected to their communities through safe and dependable transportation services. Southwest Center is seeking Community Transportation Drivers to provide non-emergency transportation for individuals participating in Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) and transportation programs.
Responsibilities
- Safely transporting participants to approved locations, appointments, and activities
- Aiding individuals entering and exiting vehicles safely, including use of mobility equipment when necessary
- Following all agency transportation procedures and defensive driving practices
- Conducting vehicle safety inspections before and after assigned routes
- Maintaining accurate transportation logs and route documentation
- Monitoring vehicle cleanliness and ensuring emergency equipment is properly maintained
- Reporting accidents, incidents, delays, mechanical concerns, or safety issues according to agency policy
- Communicating professionally with participants, families, staff, and supervisors
- Supporting participants respectfully while promoting dignity and independence
- Participating in required meetings, trainings, and transportation-related education sessions
- Assisting with community outings or center-based activities as needed
Requirements
- Be at least 25 years old
- Possess a high school diploma or GED
- Maintain a valid Kentucky driver’s license
- Have an acceptable driving history record
- Have no more than two chargeable moving violations within the previous three years
- Have no DUI/DWI convictions within the previous five years
- Successfully pass criminal background screenings
- Pass pre-employment and random drug sing requirements
- Have prior experience driving vans, trucks, or transporting passengers preferred
- Complete all required agency training, including CPR and First Aid certification

Pay
Starting pay: $17.50 per hour
Schedule
Routes may include split shifts depending on transportation schedules and participant needs. Shift types may include: Morning routes, Afternoon/evening routes. Specific route times may vary.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Extended periods of driving and sitting
- Frequent standing, walking, reaching, lifting, transferring, and assisting passengers
- Exposure to changing outdoor weather conditions throughout the workday
- Safe operation of agency vehicles in varying traffic and environmental conditions
