About the role
This role is based in an Assisted Living, Independent Living, and Memory Care setting. The Community Therapy Lead (CTL) manages and supervises the rehabilitation department to meet resident needs, fiscal requirements, and federal and state regulations in conjunction with the Senior Director of Rehab and/or Regional Director of Operations. The ideal CTL will have a strong background and understanding of the Senior Living environment and will achieve specific resident care, team member relations, customer service, and financial objectives through strong leadership and effective partnership with customers. Maintains professional conduct and represents Reliant Rehabilitation’s commitment to quality and services in all interactions.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for overall therapy, wellness, and fitness advocacy within the community, driving meaningful and measurable outcomes.
- Assign resident scheduling and other responsibilities to staff as needed.
- Manage, orient, train, evaluate, and counsel department and team members to improve job performance and maintain high standards of performance and patient quality care, in conjunction with the Senior DOR and/or Regional Director of Operations.
- Ensure compliance with Reliant Rehabilitation and community-specific policies and procedures for the department.
- Ensure therapists and therapy assistants are compliant with documentation in the medical record that is accurate and concise, meets governmental and third-party payor requirements, minimizes duplication, and reflects a clear picture of the resident’s status, skilled intervention, and outcomes.
- Communicate and coordinate department functions with other services to promote team rapport and effectiveness.
- Communicate effectively with community leadership regarding department programs, goals, objectives, risks, and successes.
- Communicate effectively to the public (including medical personnel) within the community regarding the therapy services offered by Reliant Rehabilitation.
- Participate in resident care coordination, department head meetings, and community education and planning.
- Responsible for revenue and expense controls to meet budgetary requirements; ensure timely and accurate billing of services provided and completion of required documentation while maintaining quality of services.
- Enhance clinical expertise, professional and management skills through interaction with managers, therapists, and other professional staff, self-study, and continuing education activities.
- Maintain valid state license (where appropriate) and awareness of issues related to rehabilitation and the senior living profession.
- Be compliant with infection control procedures and environmental safety protocols within a community.
- This position requires patient lifting using appropriate biomechanical techniques frequently throughout the course of a workday/shift; must be capable of lifting thirty (30) pounds of dead weight alone.
- Maintain confidentiality of Living Rehab, community, and patient information.
- Must be able to travel between communities during scheduled hours as needed; must be able to work varying hours and shifts.
- Must comply with the position description for the discipline of current license and conduct self in an ethical, legal, and responsible manner at all times.
- Attend all mandatory meetings, trainings, and assignments as delegated; perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Must adhere to the policies, principles, and guidance within the Employee Handbook and Code of Business Conduct.
Qualifications
- Competency: Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to build strong relationships with a diverse population; ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English instructions, correspondence, memos, and reports; ability to work in a fast-paced, productive work environment; ability to make independent decisions and problem solve; ability to effectively manage and motivate the team.
- Education/Experience: Must possess a degree in therapy from an accredited school; or two (2) years of experience as a Physical Therapist, Physical Therapist Assistant, Occupational Therapist, Occupational Therapy Assistant, or Speech-Language Pathologist. One (1) year of management experience is preferred. Thorough knowledge of Medicare and third-party billing is required.
- Computer Skills: Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.); basic internet navigation skills.
- Certificates and Licenses: Must hold a current and active license as one of the following: Physical Therapist, Physical Therapist Assistant, Occupational Therapist, Occupational Therapist Assistant, or Speech-Language Pathologist.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervises the work of others in the community, including training, scheduling, coaching, resolving issues, maintaining personnel records, and assisting with discipline in partnership with the Senior DOR/Regional Director of Operations.
