About the role

Community Support Specialists provide mental health support in clients' homes and communities on Chicago's South Side. This role offers unique learning opportunities through care planning and case management.

Responsibilities

  • Remove barriers to mental healthcare by connecting clients with resources and navigating complex systems.
  • Drive clients to appointments, benefit offices, and stores to support their daily living skills.
  • Adapt to clients' schedules, needs, and treatment plans each day.

Requirements

  • Effective communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Good time management and organization.
  • Aged 21 or older.
  • Valid driver’s license, current car insurance, and daily access to a personal vehicle.
  • Willingness to provide transportation to clients.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED certificate and 5 years of supervised clinical experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an unrelated field and 2 years of supervised clinical experience.
  • Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
  • Active Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) credential.

Skills

  • Knowledge of harm reduction and trauma-informed care.
  • Ability to provide transportation to clients.
