Community Support Specialist-Bonus Eligible Up to $5,000

About the role

The Home for Little Wanderers seeks a Community Support Specialist (CSS) for their private school located in Walpole. Clifford Academy is a Chapter 766 DESE approved therapeutic school serving youth with emotional, behavioral, and learning challenges.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the CSS Coordinator to initiate and maintain effective school structures and routines.
• Use Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (you will be trained) strategies when supporting youth.
• Operate within and outside of classrooms to assist students in meeting their academic and vocational expectations.
• Ensure completion of all necessary paperwork including incident reporting, etc.
• Provide coverage of shifts as needed, including coverage in support of students that reside at the Walpole campus.
• Help manage medical and emergency situations.
• Ensure students adhere to school policies as detailed in the Clifford Academy Handbook.
• Perform other school community support duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Principal to support youth.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to two years' plus of college and/or two years' plus childcare experience in a residential setting with similar population.
• Supervisory experience helpful.
• Computer literate including Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer with the ability to learn new software applications.
