Community Relations Event Intern

About the role

Make a real impact across Michigan this summer. As a Community Relations event intern, you will help bring Priority Health’s mission to life by supporting events that improve health and strengthen communities.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the planning and coordination of community events, including logistics, vendor management, and volunteer coordination.
• Independent travel with event setup and teardown, branded item distribution and ensuring all aspects run smoothly.
• Support marketing efforts by gathering content for social media, intranet, and engaging with the members and potential members.
• Troubleshoot on-site challenges (weather changes, vendor questions, crowd flow) with support from the Community Relations team.
• Provide administrative support, including maintaining event databases, tracking expenses, data, and preparing reports to evaluate sponsorship impact.
• Attend and contribute to team meetings, offering creative ideas and feedback.
• Collaborate with marketing, brand, sales, and other internal teams to ensure consistent messaging and event success.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in or recent graduation from a relevant degree program (e.g., Event Management, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations).
• Strong emotional intelligence and people skills, comfortable engaging with the public in a friendly, positive manner.
• Demonstrate compassion, integrity, and respect among diverse audiences.
• Reliable and punctual.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and digital project management systems.
• Passionate about community engagement and event planning.
• Flexible to work evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight events.
• Comfortable driving to events independently and navigating to various locations across lower Michigan.
• Able to lift and transport event materials independently up to 40 lbs. and work extended periods of time during events.
