Community Pharmacy Tech II
About the Role
The Community Pharmacy Technician II supports all aspects of the prescription preparation process including compounding, preparation, and dispensing. This role involves greeting patients, collecting information, entering patient data, processing claims, and referring inquiries outside the scope of the Pharmacy Technician’s license to a supervising pharmacist. The technician assists in maintaining pharmaceutical inventory and supplies through ordering, receiving, stocking, and record keeping. Community Pharmacy Technicians work under the direct supervision of registered pharmacists and do not perform duties legally restricted to registered pharmacists.
Florida registered pharmacy technicians are governed by Section 465.014, Florida Statutes, and Rules 64B16-26.103, 64B16.350, 64B16-26.351, 64B16-27.410, 64B16-27.420, and the Florida Administrative Code.
Responsibilities
- Support all aspects of the prescription preparation process, including compounding, preparation, and dispensing.
- Greet patients and collect necessary information.
- Enter patient data and process insurance claims.
- Refer inquiries outside the scope of the Pharmacy Technician’s license to a supervising pharmacist.
- Maintain pharmaceutical inventory and supplies through ordering, receiving, stocking, and record keeping.
Requirements
- Active Florida Registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to obtain level 2 AHCA clearance.
- One (1) year of experience in a Pharmacy Technician role within SMHCS or a comparable organization.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
- One (1) to three (3) years of recent community pharmacy practice experience.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Education
- Mandatory: High School Diploma, GED, or Certificate.
